Announcing the Search for SLU’s Next Executive Vice President and Provost
January 20, 2026
Dear members of the SLU community,
I am pleased to announce the launch of the search for SLU’s next Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP).
We are seeking an experienced, future-focused and collaborative leader to partner with the president and SLU community to advance student success, faculty excellence, and mission-driven impact.
The EVPP will serve as the University’s second-ranking officer, charged with convening and aligning senior leaders across units to strengthen institutional practices of strategic planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, strategic budgeting and resource alignment, and shared accountability for outcomes. Though the reporting lines of current vice presidents will not change, the EVPP will actively facilitate coordination and academic and administrative collaboration across the institution.
The successful candidate will be a leader who combines academic stature with strategic and operational acumen; who can galvanize teams toward shared purpose; who embraces authentic shared governance; who understands the centrality of student success to our mission; and who can translate vision into measurable progress. Integrity, humility, emotional intelligence, commitment to our Jesuit mission, and the ability to inspire confidence are essential qualities for success in this role.
Because I will work in close partnership with the new EVPP, I will be actively involved in recruitment. As search chair, I will also benefit from the direct input of search committee members.
The search committee includes:
- Edward Feser, Ph.D., President (Chair)
- Twinette Johnson, J.D., Ph.D., Law School Dean (Vice Chair)
- Noah Hillman, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics
- Christa Jackson, Ph.D., Professor of Educational Studies
- Grace Lopiccolo, Student Government Association President
- Ness Sandoval, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology
- Katie Stamatakis, Ph.D., M.P.H., Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Abby Stylianou, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Computer Science
- Fr. David Suwalsky, S.J., Vice President for Mission and Identity
- Holden Thorp, Ph.D., SLU Trustee
- Michael Vaughn, Ph.D., Professor of Social Work
Staff support will be provided by Vice President of Human Resources Mickey Luna, Chief of Staff Katherine Galvin, and Executive Assistant to the President Amelia Arnold. Executive search consultants from WittKieffer will facilitate the process.
Recruitment of candidates will begin immediately, with the goal of naming our new EVPP in May for a summer start.
Please email SLU-Provost@wittkieffer.com with nominations of qualified individuals.

Sincerely,
Edward Feser, Ph.D.
