Practice Areas
I wrote a thesis in Functional Analysis under the direction of Ky Fan getting my PhD at Notre Dame in 1962 having spent 1960 - 1961 with Fan at Wayne State University and 1961 -1962 with Fan at Northwestern University. I did a post-doc in Geometric Topology at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1962 - 1964 as assistant to Marston Morse. I taught at the University of Iowa from 1964 - 1967 before returning to Saint Louis University in 1967. I was Lower Division Supervisor from 1970 - 1980, Director of Computer Science from 1980 - 1986, and Department Chair from 1986 - 1991 before retiring in 2012. Larry Conlon and I began our joint work on Foliations in 1975. In 1995, Hu Hohn, Jeanie McDill, Steve Strogatz, Bev West, and I published software for teaching Differential Equations.
