Admission Requirements

The Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing adheres to the principles of a holistic admission process in which selection criteria are broad-based and linked to our University’s and school’s mission and goals. While we do consider academic metrics, we also look at applicant experiences, attributes, potential for success, and how applicants may contribute to the school’s learning environment and to the profession.

Licensure Disclosure

Students who enroll in this track meet the eligibility requirements to sit for the CNE Novice exam for Nurse Educator. Eligibility includes:
  1. Licensure: 
    • A currently active, unencumbered, registered nurse designation in the country of residence.
  2. Education:
    • A graduate degree in nursing with major emphasis on nursing education or
    • A graduate degree in nursing plus a post-master's certificate in nursing education or
    • A graduate degree in nursing (M.S.N. or M.S.N.-NP) and nine or more credit hours of graduate-level education courses or
    • A post baccalaureate certificate in nursing education
  3. Experience:
    • Currently within the first three years of practice as an academic nurse educator.

Requirements for International Students

International students on F1 or J1 student visas are not eligible for admission, as the program is conducted entirely online.

Continuation Standards

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in all graduate/professional courses.
