Community Impact
Consistent with SLU's mission and Jesuit tradition, the Interprofessional Education program partners with organizations and institutions to impact people and communities across the St. Louis region.
The Interprofessional Community practicum course (IPE 4900) provides students from different health care professions the opportunity to work in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations to develop and implement a health or wellness project. Students gain practical experience addressing community health needs while helping our partner agencies build capacity to meet the needs of their community members. We focus on creating sustainable initiatives through ongoing collaborations.
In recognition of this commitment, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has recognized the SLU IPE Program as a Healthy People 2030 Champion. As a Healthy People 2030 Champion, SLU IPE has demonstrated a commitment to helping achieve the Healthy People 2030 vision of a society in which all people can achieve their full potential for health and well-being across their lifespans. Healthy People 2030 Champions are a growing network of organizations partnering with ODPHP to improve health and well-being at the local, state, and tribal level.
